Palmer, James Shedden
Palmer, James Shedden (1810–67) Union naval officer, born in New Jersey. During the battle of Vicksburg (1863), his effort to draw fire away from Admiral David Farragut's ship won him Farragut's respect and support.
Palmer earned the nickname “Piecrust Palmer” by his habit of donning formal dress before entering battle. |

Daniel David Palmer 1845–1913, American founder of chiropractic, b. near Toronto, Canada. He practiced and taught chiropractic , chiefly in Davenport, Iowa. His work was carried on and extended by his son, Bartlett J. Palmer. |
