Constantin Rosetti , 1816-85, Romanian statesman, b. Bucharest. A radical editor, he took part in the Revolution of 1848 and subsequently fled to Paris, where he published a review favoring the establishment of a national unitary state. He returned in 1861 to Romania, was elected deputy, and in 1866 was minister of public instruction. A supporter of the deposition (1866) of Alexander John Cuza, Rosetti headed the chamber of deputies in 1877 and was minister of the interior (1881-82).
