Clive

Clive

Clive ♂ Transferred use of the surname, in origin a local name from any of the various places (e.g. in Cheshire, Shropshire) so called from Old English clif ‘cliff, slope, bank’. As a given name it seems to have been originally chosen in honour of ‘Clive of India’ (Robert Clive, created Baron Clive of Plassey in 1760).
