Chloris

Chloris ♀ From Greek mythology. Khlōris was a minor goddess of vegetation; her name derives from Greek khlōros ‘green’. It was used by the Roman poet Horace for one of his loves (see also Lalage) and was taken up by Augustan poets of the 17th and 18th centuries, but has since fallen from favour.

Chloris

Chloris (family Gramineae) One of the 9 genera of grasses that are represented in all arid regions of the world. They are typical components of arid grazed habitats, and several species are valuable pasture grasses. The genus is cosmopolitan, with about 10 species.
