Chaffinch

chaffinch

chaffinch Small songbird common throughout Europe. It generally perches on low trees, bushes and fences, feeding on plants and insects. The blue and buff colours and pink breast belong to the male only, although the drab female shares his white markings. In winter, flocks consisting solely of males can be seen. Family Fringillidae; species Fringilla coelebs.
