Caspar
Caspar ♂ Dutch form of Jasper, also found as a variant in English. According to legend, this was the name of one of the three Magi or ‘wise men’ who brought gifts to the infant Christ. The Magi are not named in the Bible, but early Christian tradition assigned them the names Caspar, Balthasar, and Melchior. Among the best known bearers in modern times is the U.S. statesman Caspar Weinberger (1917–2006).
Variant: Casper. |
