Computer Emergency Response Team
Computer Emergency Response Team More usually known as CERT. The CERT Coordination Center was set up by the Defense Applied Research Projects Agency at Carnegie Mellon University in 1988 after the INTERNET WORM seriously affected the Internet. It has the general brief to provide help and expertise when a major security incident affects the Internet. Originally the work of the team was confined to responding to security incidents. However, since then it has broadened and now includes: helping to start other incident response teams, the coordination of teams when a large-scale incident occurs, the provision of training, and the carrying out of research into computer security.
