Candace
Candace The title of queen mothers who ruled Ethiopia (modern Sudan). It is mentioned (Acts 8: 27) to illustrate the progress of the Gospel beyond Palestinian Judaism: a court chamberlain sympathetic to Judaism was returning from Jerusalem in a covered wagon when he encountered Philip, who converted and baptized him.
