Calumet City
Calumet City, Illinois/USA West Hammond Founded in 1868, it was renamed in 1924 after a Native American version of the French chlamel ‘little reed’, itself from the Latin calamus ‘reed’ which, in its modified form, meant a peace pipe; in other words, the pipe used to signify the ratification of a treaty.
