C. S. Forester

C. S. Forester (Cecil Scott Forester), 1899–1966, British novelist, b. Cairo, Egypt, educated in England. A prolific and popular author, C. S. Forester is best known for his novels of the royal navy in the days of sail, especially the series about Capt. Horatio Hornblower, naval officer during the Napoleonic Wars. Among his other well-known works are Payment Deferred (1926), The African Queen (1935), and The Good Shepherd (1955).

Forester, C. S. ( Cecil Scott Forester Cecil Lewis Troughton Smith) (1899–1966), is principally remembered for his seafaring novels set during the Napoleonic wars, featuring Horatio Hornblower, introduced in 1937 in The Happy Return. His other works include Brown on Resolution (1929), The African Queen (1935), and The Hornblower Companion (1964).

Forester, C.S. ( Cecil Scott) (1899–1966) British writer, b. Egypt. Forester is perhaps best remembered for a 12-novel saga about Horatio Hornblower, a naval officer during the Napoleonic Wars; the series began with The Happy Return (1937). His other works include The Gun (1933) and The African Queen (1935).
