COROT
COROT A joint French–ESA satellite, launched in 2006December to observe 60 000 stars with a 0.3-m telescope in search of dips in brightness caused by the transit of planets larger than the Earth. It will also study a few dozen stars more carefully to detect even smaller brightness changes caused by oscillations of their surfaces, from which information can be deduced about their internal structure (a technique known as asteroseismology). COROT stands for COnvection ROtation and planetary Transits. http://sci.esa.int/science-e/www/area/index.cfm?fareaid=39
