Bosworth Field, Battle of
Bosworth Field, Battle of English battleground, near Leicester, England, where Richard III was defeated by Henry Tudor (1485). Henry, who claimed to represent the Lancastrian royal house, which had competed with the Yorkists during the Wars of the Roses, invaded England from France. Richard was killed, and Henry claimed the throne as Henry VII.

Bosworth Field Leicestershire, central England. It was the scene of the battle (1485) at which Richard III was killed and the crown was passed to his opponent, the earl of Richmond ( Henry VII ), first of the Tudors. |

Bosworth Field a battle of the Wars of the Roses fought in 1485 near Market Bosworth in Leicestershire. Henry Tudor defeated and killed the Yorkist king Richard III, enabling him to take the throne as Henry VII.
