Blandford Forum
Blandford Forum, England/UK Chipping Blandford, Blaneford St Mary Probably ‘Ford where Gudgeon are found’ from the Old English blægna ‘gudgeon’ and ford. The Latin forum ‘market’ was added in recognition of the former name Chipping Blandford from the Old English cēping ‘market’. The church was dedicated to St Mary.

Blandford Forum, Blandford St Mary Dorset. Blaneford 1086 (DB), Blaneford Forum 1297, Blaneford St Mary 1254. Probably ‘ford where blay or gudgeon are found’. OE blǣge (genitive plural blǣgna) + ford. Distinguishing affixes from Latin forum ‘market’ and from the dedication of the church.
