Belteshazzar At the king's court Daniel (Dan. 1: 7) accepted this Babylonian name without protest, though it appears to incorporate a prayer to the god Bel (Marduk, Isa. 46: 1), which seems inconsistent with his strict adherence to food regulations (Dan. 1: 8).
