Belcher Islands
Belcher Islands, Nunavut/Canada In Hudson Bay, they were first sighted in 1610 and later named after the British Admiral Sir Edward Belcher (1799–1877), who in 1852 was appointed to lead an ultimately unsuccessful and unhappy attempt to find Sir John Franklin, who had disappeared while searching for the Northwest Passage in 1847.
