Ballymore Hill, battle of
Ballymore Hill, battle of, 1798. Father Murphy, leading the Wexford rebels, ambushed a small detachment of British troops on 4 June near Enniscorthy, killing their commander, Colonel Lambert Walpole, and taking several guns. Though no more than a skirmish, it gave great encouragement to the rebels.
