Baltistān

Baltistān, Pakistan A disputed geographic region in the Pakistani‐controlled part of Kashmir with a name meaning the ‘Land of the Baltis’, Muslims of Tibetan origin. It was a largely inaccessible mountain kingdom until it began to expand in the late 16th century to include Chitral and Ladakh.
