Schirach, Baldur von
Schirach, Baldur von (b. 9 May 1907, d. 8 Aug. 1974). Nazi youth leader President of the Nazi student league 1928–32, he became the national youth leader of the Nazis 1931–40, and of Germany in 1933. In this capacity he built up the Hitler Youth into a national mass organization. From 1940 to 1945 he was the Nazi governor (Gauleiter) of Vienna. At the Nuremberg Trials, he was sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment.

Schirach, Baldur von
Schirach, Baldur von (1907–74) German Nazi youth leader. An enthusiastic Nazi while still a student, from 1933 to 1945 he led the HITLER YOUTH. In 1940 he was appointed governor of Vienna, where he took part in plans to ship Vienna's Jews to CONCENTRATION CAMPS. He was found guilty at the NUREMBERG TRIALS and sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment.
