Baasha , king of Israel (c.900-877 BC). He made himself king by the murder of King Nadab and the royal family. His reign as king of the schismatic northern kingdom is assessed negatively in 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles. He fought against Asa of Judah, who won with the aid of Benhadad of Syria.
