North Attleboro , industrial town (1990 pop. 25,038), Bristol co., SE Mass., near the R.I. line; settled 1669, set off from Attleboro and inc. 1887. Jewelry has been made there since 1807. Other manufactures include boxes, metal products, and eyewear. The Woodcock tavern dates from 1670. |

Attleboro, Massachusetts/USA Founded in 1669 and named after the Attleborough in England whence most of the settlers had come. Attleborough means ‘Ætla's Hill’ from beorg ‘hill’.
