North Attleboro

North Attleboro , industrial town (1990 pop. 25,038), Bristol co., SE Mass., near the R.I. line; settled 1669, set off from Attleboro and inc. 1887. Jewelry has been made there since 1807. Other manufactures include boxes, metal products, and eyewear. The Woodcock tavern dates from 1670.

Attleboro , industrial city (1990 pop. 38,383), Bristol co., SE Mass., near the R.I. line; settled 1634, inc. as a city 1914. Its jewelry industry began in 1780; silverware, scientific instruments, and fabricated metal products are also made.

Attleboro, Massachusetts/USA Founded in 1669 and named after the Attleborough in England whence most of the settlers had come. Attleborough means ‘Ætla's Hill’ from beorg ‘hill’.
