Atlantic Monthly

Atlantic Monthly, an American magazine of literature, the arts, and politics, founded in 1857. J. R. Lowell was its first editor (1857–61) and O. W. Holmes's contribution of The Autocrat at the Breakfast-Table added greatly to its early success. It continues to include many leading American men and women of letters among its contributors.
