Astrid

Astrid

Astrid ♀ (Scandinavian) name, derived from Old Norse áss ‘god’ + fríðr ‘fair, beautiful’. It came into use in the English-speaking world during the 20th century, influenced to some extent by Queen Astrid of the Belgians (1905–35).

Short form: Asta.
