Arc Light
Arc Light a code name given to the use of U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers, beginning in June 1965, to provide pre-planned and on-call close air support bombing strikes against Vietcong and North Vietnamese units. The strikes were much feared both for their destructiveness and the fact that, since the bombers flew so high, there was usually no prior warning of an incoming strike.
