Arabah
Arabah or Araba , depression, on the Israel-Jordan border, extending c.100 mi (160 km) from the Dead Sea S to the Gulf of Aqaba; part of the Great Rift Valley complex. Limestone, salt, and potash are mined near the Dead Sea. In the Old Testament, Arabah is variously called a wilderness, a plain, and a desert. It is sometimes spelled Aravah. |

Arabah
Arabah The desert valley which runs from the Sea of Galilee to the Red Sea was an important trade route from north to south. In Job 24: 5 it is translated ‘desert’ by NRSV and NJB and ‘wilderness’ in REB.
