Antipas
Antipas
1. The son of Herod the Great. After his father's death, Herod Antipas was assigned the territory of Galilee and Perea, and was ruler during the ministry of Jesus. Called ‘that fox’ (Luke 13: 32), he is said to have examined Jesus during the course of the trial by Pilate (Luke 23: 6–9). 2. The name of a Christian martyr mentioned in Rev. 2: 13. |
