Amitāyus
Amitāyus (Skt.; Tib., tshe.dpag.med, ‘Limitless Life’). In Tibetan Buddhism an aspect of Amida/Amitābha (Skt.; Tib., ʾd.dpag.med, ‘Limitless Light’) concerned with long life. Amitāyus is generally portrayed surrounded by his 108 emanations, each of which have separate names which, recited together, form the mantra of the practice devoted to him. In Japanese Buddhism, Amitāyus is simply an epithet, rather than an aspect of Amitābha.
