mensa
mensa (Lat., ‘table’). In early Christian times the word was used of the stone tablets set over or near a grave, and apparently used for receiving food for meals in memory of the deceased. It is also in common use to designate the flat stone (or other material) which forms the top of an altar.

Mensa
Mensa an international organization founded in England in 1945 whose members must achieve very high scores in IQ tests to be admitted. The name comes from Latin for ‘table’, with allusion to a round table at which all members have equal status.

mensa A small plateau or tableland on a planetary surface; pl.mensae. The name, which means ‘table’, is not a geological term, but is used in the nomenclature of individual features, for example Deuteronilus Mensae on Mars.

Mensa
Mensa (abbr. Men, gen. Mensae) A small, faint constellation near the south celestial pole, representing Table Mountain at the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. Its brightest star, Alpha Mensae, is of magnitude 5.1. It contains part of the Large Magellanic Cloud.
