Allies Term used in World War I and World War II for the forces that fought the Central Powers and Axis Powers respectively. In World War I, they numbered 23 and included Belgium, Britain and its Commonwealth, France, Italy, Japan, Russia and the USA. In World War II, the 49 Allies included Belgium, Britain and the Commonwealth, France, the Netherlands, the Soviet Union and the USA.
