Ross, Alexander
Ross, Alexander (1699–1784), published a lengthy pastoral in Scots entitled The Fortunate Shepherdess (1768; or Helenore, or The Fortunate Shepherdess). He is best remembered as the author of various spirited songs, including ‘Woo'd and Married and a’.
