Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk/Russia An abbreviation of Akademicheskiy Gorodok ‘Academic Campus’. It was founded in 1957 as a purpose‐built town and the headquarters of the Siberian branch of the Academy of Sciences, to which some 40 000 scientists were sent.
