Aegean
Aegean (Greek: Aigaíon; Turkish: Ege)A sea and islands named, according to legend, after Aegeus, the mythical King of Attica (Athens). When his son, Theseus, returned, having been offered up to the Minotaur in place of the yearly tribute, he forgot to change the colour of his sails from black to white to indicate his survival. When Aegeus saw the black sails he flung himself into the sea. Northern Aegean and Southern Aegean comprise two administrative regions of Greece.
