Abram

Abram ♂ Biblical name, a variant of Abraham. It was probably originally a distinct name (meaning ‘high father’ in Hebrew). According to Genesis 17:5, the patriarch's name was changed by divine command from Abram to Abraham. From the Middle Ages, however, if not before, it was taken to be a contracted version.
