Aberdare
Aberdare, Kenya, UK Kenya: a forested mountain range named in 1884 after Henry Austin Bruce, 1st Baron Aberdare, British Home Secretary (1869–73) and president of the Royal Geographical Society (1880–5, 1886). He took his name from Aberdare in Wales. The local Kikuyu name is Nyandarua ‘Drying Hide’.

Aberdare
Aberdare , Welsh Aberdâr, town (1991 pop. 31,619), Rhondda Cynon Taff, S Wales. Originally a processing center for iron and coal, Aberdare has become the service center and purchasing hub of the Cynon Valley. Industries include the production of cable and electrical goods. |
