The Early Yea?rs

In the early days of the NBA, the Minneapolis Lakers did exceptionally due to center George Mikan, a player often described as the ‘first superstar’ of the NBA. The team eventually relocated to Los Angeles in the 1960-61 season due to financial troubles.

Since moving to L.A., the team made it to the finals six times in the 60’s but lost each time to the Boston Celtics, thereby beginning what has become one of the longest rivalries in the league.

Each year, the team worked tirelessly and acquired some of the biggest talents in the league in order to build up their reputation as one of the strongest teams in the NBA.
