Born Shawn Corey Carter in December of 1969, Jay-Z is a rapper and businessman. He is considered one of the most famous men on the planet currently and has a net worth of $810 million as of May 2017. His spouse, Beyonce Knowles, who he married in 2008, is an equally big star in the world of R&B and pop music. Major hits from this album included “03 Bonnie & Clyde” and “Excuse Me Miss”, both of which featured Beyonce.

His next solo work was called The Black Album and had a star-studded producers’ lineup, including Just Blaze, The Neptunes, Timbaland, DJ Quik, Eminem, Kanye West, Rick Rubin, The Buchanans and 9th Wonder.

In 2004, Jay-Z collaborated with the rock group, Linkin Park, and released the remix EP Collision Course. This EP sold more than 1 million copies in the US and the single “Numb/Encore” went on to win the Grammy Award.

On November 21st, 2006, Jay-Z released another album, titled Kingdom Come that sold 680,000 copies in the first week. The rapper’s tenth album was called, American Gangster and was released in 2007. The album sold 1 million copies in the US and was followed by the released of The Blueprint 3 in 2009. In 2013, Jay-Z released Magna Carta Holy Grail, followed by his latest release, 4:44 in 2017.

Awards and Accolades

Over the course of his career, Jay-Z has won many awards and has been nominated for many as well. In total, he has been nominated a total of 162 times and has won 67 awards. These include the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song for “Crazy In Love” and Best Rap Performance for “99 Problems”. He has also won the American Music Awards for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album for The Blueprint 3 in 2009.

Jay-Z also won the BET Awards for Best Collaboration for “Crazy In Love” with Beyonce, Best Male Hip Hop Artist in 2001, Best Collaboration for “Empire State of Mind” featuring Alicia Keys, Best Group called The Throne, with Kanye West and Best Collaboration for Holy Grail with Justin Timberlake.

He has also won BET Hip Hop Awards for Hustler of the Year, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year and MVP of the Year.

Other major wins for the rapper include Billboard Music Awards in various categories such as R&B Albums Artist of the Year and Rap Artist of the Year; BRIT Award for the Best International Male Solo Artist; Mobo Award for the Best International Hip-Hop Act; MTV Video Music Awards in various categories and People’s Choice Awards among many others.
