At the age of four, Mars was performing regularly with his family band called The Love Notes. This part of Bruno Mars’ life truly helped shape the kind of diversified artist he was eventually going to become. He was a part of a group called The School Boys at his high school, after which he moved to LA to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional musician.

After a few failed attempts, Mars managed to land a recording deal with Atlantic Records. Initially, he started out by writing songs for musicians such as Alexandra Burke, Adam Levine, Travie McCoy, Sean Kingston, Flo Rida and Brandy. As a singer, Mars first shot to fame by being featured on and co-writing B.o.B.’s “Nothin’ on You” and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire”. Both these songs were in the top ten of various charts around the world.

Soon after this success, Mars released his debut EP called It’s Better If You Don’t Understand, in 2010. This album peaked at the 99th place on Billboard 200. Soon after this, Mars released the lead single, “Just the Way You Are” from his next album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans. This song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 along with several other charts across the globe. His second single from the album, “Grenade” also topped various charts and instantly made Bruno Mars a household name. The album itself managed to sell 55,000 copies initially and 6 million copies to date, all across the world. The next song from this album, “The Lazy Song” also became a chart-topper.

His next album, Unorthodox Jukebox was released on 11th December, 2012 and reached the top spot on Billboard 200 almost three months after its release, with sales of more than 192,000 units. It charted in various countries, including the UK and Switzerland and has since sold more than 6 million copies across the world. The Moonshine Jungle Tour followed this album, and began on 22nd June, 2013.

After the end of this tour, Mars began work on his third studio album, called 24K Magic. Mark Ronson and Jeff Bhasker were confirmed as the producers for the album. While this album was still in the works, Bruno Mars was invited as a guest, alongside Beyonce to headline the halftime show at Superbowl 50, with Coldplay headlining the event. 24K Magic was eventually released on 18th November, 2016 and received good reviews from music critics, opening at number two on the Billboard 200.
