Avenged Sevenfold Make Their Mark

Avenged Sevenfold was formed in 1999 when the members of the band were still in high school. Their mutual passion for metal music led them to create the band and purse music full-time.

The band is made up of vocalist M. Shadows, backing vocalist and rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance, drummer Brooks Wackerman, bassist Johnny Christ, and lead guitarist and backup vocalist Synyster Gates.

The band immediately gained attention for their aggressive sound and unique combination of genres including hardcore, metal, and hard rock.

Rising Success

Avenged Sevenfold have managed to stand the test of time and reinvent themselves continuously in order to keep their sound fresh.

Their first two albums Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen were released on smaller record labels and helped them to get their music out to the public. It was enough to catch the attention of Warner Bros. Records who signed them on and helped them release their third effort, City of Evil. This album was a huge breakthrough success for them. The album reached number 30 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and featured the incredibly popular hit single Bat Country.

Avenged Sevenfold would also win the Best New Artist Award at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

All of this increased their success exponentially and the band was forced to cancel their tour dates to record more music.

Their next release was self-titled and came out in 2007. This one reached the number 4 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

The band then went through a rough patch when their drummer, The Rev, passed away due to a drug overdose.

After toying with the idea of disbanding, A7X decided to continue making music and have since released three more albums. 2013’s Hail to the King even made it to the top of the Billboard 200 Chart.
