The Music of Adam and the Ants
Adam started his musical career with a band called Bazooka Joe, in which he played bass guitar. He rose to fame with his work with the band, Adam and the Ants between 1977 and 1982. After several lineup changes for the band, a new version of it was formed under a major label record deal with CBS Records. At this point in time, the band consisted of members Marco Pirroni on guitar, Kevin Mooney on bass guitar along with two drummers, Terry Lee Miall and Chris Hughes. The band recorded the album, Kings of the Wild Frontier, during the summer of 1980. The album achieved tremendous success in the UK that put the band in the forefront of the New Romantic movement.
The next album by the band was an equally big success. Released in November 1981, Prince Charming, featured two UK No.1 singles – the title track “Prince Charming” and “Stand and Deliver”. Following this, the band released a set of highly lavish music videos – something that was going to later help them develop their acting careers.
In March 1982 however, Adam disbanded the group citing the lack of enthusiasm by certain members. A few months after this, he launched a solo career.
