overkill

o·ver·kill / ˈōvərˌkil/ • n. the amount by which destruction or the capacity for destruction exceeds what is necessary: the existing nuclear overkill. ∎  excessive use, treatment, or action; too much of something: animators now face a dilemma of technology overkill.
