Sparidae
Sparidae (sea bream, porgy; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A large family of marine, perch-like, silvery fish, that have a deep, compressed and fully scaled body, continuous, single, dorsal fin, and forked tail fin. All individuals develop testes but as they grow larger and older the fish turn into females (see HERMAPHRODITIC FISH). There are about 100 species, distributed world-wide in warm to temperate waters.
