cryopediment A bench-like land-form, cut indiscriminately across bedrock, and confined to past or present periglacial environments. Its position on the lower part of a hill-slope is the main criterion for distinguishing it from a cryoplanation terrace. It is the periglacial analogue of the warm desert pediment.
