Cotylosauria (class Reptilia, subclass Anapsida) An order of stem reptiles which appeared in the Carboniferous, having diverged from the Labyrinthodontia. They flourished in the remainder of the Palaeozoic but rapidly dwindled to extinction in the Triassic.
