albacore Long-finned, fast swimming tuna of warm seas. Cigar-shaped, with a large tail sharply divided into two lobes, it has a long pectoral fin. It is an important commercial and game fish. Length: 91cm (3ft); weight: 18-36kg (40-80lb). Family Scombridae; species Thunnus alalugna.
