Henry Stevens, 1819–86, American bookdealer and bibliographer, b. Barnet, Vt. After attending college and law school, Stevens went to Europe as agent for several important libraries of the United States and remained in England to collect Americana for the British Museum. While there he made catalogs of the museum's collections on the United States, Mexico, and Canada and lists of its famous Bibles.
