Thecosomata (shelled pteropods; phylum Mollusca, class Gastropoda) An order of opisthobranch gastropods which have a planktonic mode of life, aided by fins or lobes on the foot. The mantle cavity is large and the shell may be coiled spirally. Individuals are small in size and are ciliary feeders.
