spindle attachment
spindle attachment The region of attachment on a chromosome that links it to the spindle at mitosis or meiosis. Its position determines its shape at anaphase (a rod, or J, or V). In a few species the centromeric properties are distributed along the entire length of the chromosome; such species are said to be holocentric (possessing a diffuse centromere).

In a few species the centromeric properties are distributed along the entire length of the chromosome; such species are said to be polycentromic (possessing a diffuse centromere).
