atheroma

atheroma (ath-er-oh-ma) n. degeneration of the walls of the arteries due to the formation in them of fatty plaques and scar tissue. This limits blood circulation and predisposes to thrombosis.
atheromatous adj.

atheroma The fatty deposit composed of various lipids, complex carbohydrates, and fibrous tissue which forms on the inner wall of blood vessels in atherosclerosis.
