TSR Short for terminate and stay resident program. A type of program normally found on microcomputer systems. After the program has been loaded into memory and executed it does not release the memory but remains there, ready to be reactivated when required, often by a single keystroke (see hot key). The advantage is that it is not necessary to terminate one program before starting another; however, the maximum amount of memory available for other programs is reduced.
