St Albans

St Albans Historic cathedral city on the River Ver, Hertfordshire, England. The modern city is built amongst the ruins of the Roman city of Verulamium. St Albans developed around the abbey, built in 793 by King Offa to honour the martyrdom of St Alban in ad 304. The cathedral dates mostly from the 11th century. Industries: printing, clothing, tourism. Pop (1997) 133,300.
