dicker ten, esp. of hides. ME. dyker (XII) points to an OE. *dicor, corr. to MLG. dēker, MHG. techer, (also mod.) decher :- WGmc. *decura — L. decuria set of ten.
Hence (perh.) dicker vb. trade by barter, haggle. XIX. A use supposed to be due to the bartering of skins on the N. Amer. frontier.
